Fighting cancer with mustaches | Redux

Fighting cancer with mustaches

Excerpt:

On November 1, global health charity Movember commenced its signature event, a monthlong initiative urging participants to expand mustaches (or "mo" s) to raise cancer-fighting awareness and funds. Why I'm growing the 'stache
According to Adam Garone, Movember's CEO and co-founder, there are already even more than 700,000 signed up participants this year, and he anticipates to break 1 million-- a record for the company. That's rather the growth for a task that started with 30 guys in Australia in 2003. It was a social experiment back then, Garone stated, with a simple objective : "It was really just for fun. We wanted to bring back the mustache." But people rapidly caught on, and it started producing a "surprising amount" of discussion, Garone stated. The following year, four of the initial 30 gatheringed and determined to do it all over once more -- for a source.

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
