The flu season seems waning in some parts of the nation, but that doesn't suggest it won't rebound in the next couple of weeks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Five less states stated high flu activity levels in the first week of January than the 29 that stated high activity levels in the last week of December, according to the CDC's weekly flu report. This week, 24 states stated high disease levels, 16 stated moderate levels, five stated reduced levels and one stated very little levels, suggesting that the flu season peaked in the last week of December. "It may be decreasing in some areas, but that's hard to predict," CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden said in a Friday morning teleconference. "Trends only in the next week or two will show whether we have in fact crossed the peak.".

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
