One in eight American women engages in binge drinking, according to a new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And among high school girls, the rate increases to one in five. Excessive alcohol is implicated in about 23,000 deaths among women and girls in the United States each year, according to the CDC. Of these deaths, the agency estimates that binge drinking is responsible for about 12,000 deaths annually. In a Tuesday teleconference, CDC director Dr. Thomas R. Frieden called binge drinking “the most common and dangerous form of drinking,” citing it as a risk factor for unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, heart disease, reduced cognitive function, breast cancer and other health problems in women.

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
